Everyone's booking €20-30 shuttle transfers to Fethiye. Meanwhile, there's an option for €5 that most tourists walk straight past.
Here's the budget traveller's secret.
Outside Dalaman Airport's domestic terminal, a municipal bus waits. White, MUTTAS written on the side, no flashy tourist branding.
Price? Around €5 (150-200 Turkish Lira).
It goes to Fethiye bus station in about 75-90 minutes. Nothing fancy. Gets the job done.
Because nobody's marketing it. No affiliate links, no booking platforms, no commission for travel blogs.
Transfer companies want you booking their €25 shuttles. They're not going to mention the €5 bus that leaves from the same airport.
Perfect for:
Not great for:
I'm not going to pretend this is comfortable first-class travel.
It's basic. Think local commuter bus, not luxury coach.
It's slow. Multiple stops, 75-90 minutes versus 50-60 for private transfer.
It ends at the bus station. Fethiye otogar isn't your hotel. You'll need onward transport unless you're staying central.
It's not always available. Reduced services after 10pm and in winter months.
If €5 sounds too budget, the HAVAS shuttle offers a step up for €8-12.
Same basic concept (airport to bus station) but:
Still way cheaper than shuttles and taxis.
Let's do some maths.
Scenario: You take the €5 bus to Fethiye station, then need a €30 taxi to your Ölüdeniz hotel.
Total: €35
A shared shuttle direct to Ölüdeniz? €20-25.
The "expensive" option saves you €10-15 and considerable hassle.
Moral: The €5 bus is great for central Fethiye. For beach resorts, do the maths first.
The €5 MUTTAS bus exists. Most tourists don't know about it. Now you do.
Use it if:
Skip it if:
Sometimes the cheap option is the smart option. Sometimes it isn't. At least now you can make an informed choice.
